Amira is about to publish the Sleep Reset PDP. Run it through compliance before it ships — DSHEA + anything state-specific.
Loading the draft and running it against the DSHEA structure/function ruleset + the Prop 65 ingredient table.
Verdict: do not publish. 3 disease-claim violations that need rewording before this goes live. DSHEA footer disclaimer is present and correct. No Prop 65 issues — melatonin, L-theanine, valerian, and magnesium glycinate are all clear at the California thresholds.
Flagged bullets:
- Current: "Cures insomnia naturally — fall asleep in under 15 minutes."
Issue: Disease claim ("insomnia" is a medical diagnosis) + specific outcome claim. DSHEA 403(r)(6) violation. Rewrite: "Supports restful sleep — most customers notice they fall asleep more easily within the first week." (structure/function, no disease, no guaranteed outcome)
- Current: "Treats sleep anxiety so you can finally rest."
Issue: "Treats" + disease-adjacent claim ("sleep anxiety"). FDA has sent warning letters for this exact phrasing. Rewrite: "Helps ease the mind before bed, so winding down feels natural again."
- Current: "Prevents nighttime wake-ups — wake up feeling restored."
Issue: "Prevents" is an unequivocal outcome + implies diagnosis. Rewrite: "Helps support deeper, more continuous sleep."
Ingredient panel check:
- Melatonin 3mg — no FDA RDA, but we should add a "Do not use if under 18 or pregnant" callout. Industry standard + three recent FTC-settled cases.
- L-theanine, valerian root, magnesium glycinate — all clear; dosages within the common-supplemental range.
DSHEA disclaimer: "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease." — present in footer, correct verbatim. Passes.
Action item: I've opened a Slack thread with Amira in #compliance with the rewrite suggestions inline and a 1-click "Accept all" diff on the PDP. Once she approves, I'll re-scan the v4 and greenlight publish.
One flag for future: the Klaviyo welcome flow for Sleep Reset uses the same "Cures insomnia" line in email 3. If we fix the PDP, we need to fix the flow — I've queued that as a follow-up task.
