MERIDIAN started as a conversation between a textile engineer in Kyoto and a pattern maker in Brooklyn. They had both spent ten years at larger brands and arrived, separately, at the same frustration: the industry had optimized for volume and variety, and forgotten garments are things people wear.
They started with a tee. The first MERIDIAN Heavyweight Tee went through seventeen revisions over eleven months before it shipped to fifty people on a private mailing list. Every one of those fifty people still wears it.
That is the whole brief. Make fewer things. Make them slowly. Make them for the people who will actually wear them for a decade. Ship them at a price that is honest about what they cost to produce.
We design for the thirty-six hours you actually wear a garment. Not the thirty-six weeks of the marketing calendar.
We are still small. We plan to stay small. Small is how we keep the studio at 03:42 a place you want to be.

We work with single mills and finish houses for each material. It is slower. The result is traceable.
